What should you avoid after a keratin treatment?

For the first 72 hours after keratin, keep your hair dry and keep it down. After an Express Blow Out the no-wash window is 8 hours, and we recommend waiting 24.

Keratin treatment after care decides how long your smoothing lasts. These are the same rules we give every client after a keratin treatment in Raleigh at Sweet T.

Keratin treatment do's

  • DO wait 72 hours before shampooing.
  • DO wear your hair down at all times.
  • DO blow-dry and flat iron your hair if it gets wet during the first 72 hours.
  • DO style your hair with a blow-dryer and brush during the 72 hours if you like.
  • DO put your hair in a shower cap when bathing.
  • DO wear a silk scarf to pull your hair away from your face.
  • DO use the correct after care products, such as GK shampoo and conditioner or Keratin Complex Care or Keratin Color Care Shampoo and Conditioner. They are sodium chloride free and won't strip keratin from your hair.

Yes, with some protection. Wet your hair with clear water first, then apply a deep conditioner or a serum or oil so your hair doesn't absorb salt or chlorine.

What aftercare products do you use after an Express Blow Out?

After the 8 hour wait, use GK or Keratin Complex shampoo and conditioner every time you wash. They are sodium chloride free and won't strip keratin from your hair.
